AUTOBIOGRAPHY OF JOHN T. WOODS

Born in Gorlue, Lofa County, Liberia;
Attended the College of Forestry at the University of Liberia;
Obtained Undergraduate Degree at the University of Kentucky in Lexington, Kentucky, USA in 1966.


Awarded a Master’s Degree in Natural Resource Economics at the University of British Columbia, Vancouver, Canada in 1970;
In 1972 established the Concession Secretariat in the Ministry of Finance in Liberia, providing technical, research and advisory services to the government on fiscal and legal obligations of concession and concession-like arrangements from the extraction of natural resources (mainly, iron ore, diamonds, gold and timber);


Became the Managing Director of the Forestry Development Authority one year after it was founded in Liberia;
Headed the Project Department of the Fund for Cooperation and Development of the Economic Community of West Africa States in Lome, Togo;
Coordinated the Liberia Forest Initiative in Liberia;
Second time the Managing Director of the Forestry Development Authority in Liberia.
