BRIEF BIOGRAPHY OF DARLINGTON S.TUAGBEN

darlington1Before becoming Managing Director  of the Forestry Development Authority, Hon Darlington Tuagben  served as  Deputy Managing Director for Operations, Chief Park Warden/Manager at the then proposed Lake Piso Multiple Sustainable Use Reserve in Grand Cape Mount and Bomi Counties, and later as the Natural Resources Management Specialist at USAID Liberia Office.

Hon. Tuagben holds a BSc. degree in Natural Resources Management from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology in Kumasi, Ghana and a MSc. in Conservation Biology from the University of Cape Town in South Africa.

His theses works include: “The vulnerability of the Coast of Liberia to Marine Oil Spills; implications for Biodiversity and Renewable Natural Resources Utilization” and “Assessing the Relative Abundance and Distribution of Duikers (Cephalophus spp.) in the Bia Conservation Area in the Western Region of Ghana”, for Masters and Bachelor respectively.

Hon. Darlington S. Tuagben has over nine years of practical working experience in the fields of biodiversity, environment and natural resources management with in-depth knowledge of protected area management and community participation in sustainable natural resources management. He is passionate about helping organizations make the most of their resources and talent and helping individuals make the most of their career. In addition to his accomplishments in sustainable natural resources management, Hon. Tuagben also provides career transition services through workshops, educational seminars, and lectures at various institutions of learning including the prestigious Catholic run Stella Maris Polytechnic.

Hon. Tuagben is a member of several international professional bodies including the African Forest Forum, Tropical Biology Association, Earthwatch Institute, Society for Conservation Biology and currently the Co- Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Society for the Conservation of Nature in Liberia (SCNL).

His international achievements include: 1000th Fellow of the Earthwatch Institute, 2014 Feature Alumni of the Tropical Biology Association and 2008 Feature Student Researcher of the Society for Conservation Biology, among others.
