            PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT

 

 ON THE ESTABLISHMENT OF GOLA NATIONAL FOREST AS A NATIONAL PARK

 

This is to notify the public of the intention of the  Government of Liberia through the Forestry Development Authority that appropriate actions are being taken in the process  to upgrade the Gola National Forest to a National Park  and incorporate it into the National Protected Forest Areas Network of Liberia in accordance with Chapter 9 Section 1 of the National Forestry Reform Law of 2006.

 

The Gola National Forest area is located partly in Grand Cape and Gbarpolu Counties respectively.

 

The Gola National Forest is rich  with significant biodiversity that are  native to Liberia such as amphibians, elephants, hippos, birds, plants of medicinal value, and other animal species of national and global importance for conservation and protection.

 

Therefore the Management of the Forestry Development Authority   is   soliciting comments and feedbacks from the public on government’s intention to set the Gola National Forest aside as a National Park
